Old Town Pack Angler

Typically on this site when we talk about kayak fishing boats we are usually discussing Sit-On-Top kayaks that are great for off shore fishing due to the scupper holes that allow water to drain with out any self bailing.  We do occasionally discuss hybrid models such as the Native Ultimate but one model that we don't really ever talk about is the solo canoe.  These boats have lots of great attributes that make them great for river and fly fishing.

EGO S2 Slider

I wanted to introduce to you another product out of ICAST 2010.  The EGO S2 Slider won the ICAST 2010 Best Accessory Award and looks like a pretty good item to have for those kayak anglers that like to use a net when landing fish.

Emmrod - Kayak King

I first learned of Emmrod from one of our Pro Staffers Isaac Miller.  He regularly trolls with them and after doing some research thought that this was a great product to share with you kayak anglers.

Return to the Big Bend Day Three

We woke to an East wind which would really plague us all day. Again we were on the lookout for Tarpon. We did see some really big fish, but you couldn’t really set up on them real good. We sat on a sandbar and watched the sun come up, all the while to the sound of tarpon crashing bait.

Day Two – Foggy start

Our main target species for this trip was to be Tarpon, the big migratory fish show up this time of year, so this morning we were on the hunt for them. Kind of an eerie morning with some sea fog just out on the outer coast. We did see some big fish early, but they were hard to pattern as they would bust bait in one area then move on. They never really seemed to hang in one area to long. A bit later as the tide dropped some more, we came across an area that I would describe as a bowl. It was a deeper hole with water moving through it.

Native's Updates for 2011

Native is excited to announce some of the upgrades that they have made to the 2011 line up.   With upgrades being made to many of Native's kayak's I wanted to focus specifically on two of their fishing kayaks that had what I feel to be most important updates in the the Native lineup.

Where to Find 'Em in the Fall

When you go fishing, if you want to catch a fish, it's really important that you put your bait where a fish lives. That might sound extremely basic, but the most basic concept of fishing is to fish where the fish are. You can have the nicest boat in the world, and you can have lots of expensive rods and reels and tackleboxes full of lures, but if you don't put your lure near a fish, all that other stuff is going to do you no good. Here are some ideas for finding different species of fish in the fall months throughout the Midwest.

Scotty Kayak Stabilizer 302

After talking to a friend about the Hobie Adventure Island, I got to wondering if any companies made after market stabilizers for any kayak.  Well after doing a bit of research I found that Scotty does infact make a universal stablizer kit that fits any canoe or kayak.   These easy to inflate inner bladders offer over 30 lbs. of extra buoyancy.

Kayak Live well & Dry Box (Part 1)

For a couple of years now I’ve fancied having my own livewell on the kayak. I did have a half hearted attempt a year or so back with an old cool box, though that was deemed a failure in the very early stages. There’s another issue, just how often am I actually going to use the livewell, perhaps a dozen times a year at best I reckon. The last thing that I wanted to construct was something that was just going sit on a shelf in the garage taking up valuable space. However, if I could produce a lightweight box that was suitable for general kayak use as well as the occasional use as a livewell that would be good news.
